Limit HO-Down
This special CPL event takes place on Saturday, September 28th.
The Limit HO-Down is a one-night poker tournament that mixes Texas Hold'em and Omaha. All the details are explained below, but though this format may be new to you, we assure you all that's necessary to win is your regular poker skills!
The HO-Down will alternate between Texas Hold'em and Omaha. Each time the blinds go up, the game switches. When the event begins, all tables will play fifteen minutes of Hold'em. Then, fifteen minutes of Omaha. The swap continues until there is a single champion!
*Omaha will be played as "high only."
This is a fixed-LIMIT tournament. That means players cannot use the term "all-in" at any time they wish. Instead, the maximum amount of chips a player can bet at any one moment cannot exceed the current blinds. No more than three raises are allowed in a single round of betting. For example, if the blind level is 100/200, a player wishing to bet could only put out 200 in chips max. If another player wished to raise him, that player could only put 200 more chips on top. If the two betting players didn't check, only two more additional raises of 200 chips could happen in this round. Once another community card is revealed, the betting starts over.
*An Elaboration on Fixed-Limit: During a given hand, there is only one betting increment possible depending on how much of the community has been dealt. Limit poker states that during pre-flop and post-flop betting (the first two rounds of betting), the only increment that can be bet/raised equals the current small blind. During the turn and river betting (the last two rounds of betting), the only increment that can be bet/raised equals the current big blind. For example, if the current blind level is 300/600, a player wishing to raise pre-flop could only bump it 300 more. After the flop is revealed, the maximum bet that round is still 300. Once the turn is revealed, the only amount available to bet/raise is now 600 for the remainder of the hand.
Registration for The HO-Down is $20/player. That gets you 3500 worth of chips. There will be an optional add-on at the very beginning of the event only. For an additional $5, players will start the tournament with an extra 1000 in chips. Play will follow the blind schedule published below. Tables will rebalance any time one table has two or more players than another.
Payouts will be based on the number of players registered. The following criteria will be followed:

SOME SPECIFICS:
Only limit Texas Hold'em and High-Only Omaha will be played. Standard rules for winning
hands, betting order, etc. will be followed. CPL regulations will be in
effect. All money collected from entries is paid out as winnings. No cut
is taken for any reason. This tournament is Texas-legal.
NUMBER OF TABLES: The amount of players registered in The HO-Down will
determine the number of tables used. One table is required for every ten
people registered. We will consolidate as needed. If multiple tables
are running, tables will be rebalanced any time one table
contains two or more players than another. During table rebalancing, the
player being moved to fill the lighter table will be the person who is
currently seated to the right of the dealer, as long as that player
isn't the table's current chip leader or low stack. The moment nine
players or less are left in a tournament, only one table will be used.
If a single player is moved to a new table, that player will be sat to
the right of the dealer. If multiple players are being moved to a new
table at the same time, those players will be staggered (not sit next to
one another) in their same order.
STARTING STACKS: The five colored chips that will be used are white, red, blue, green, and black. Each color is worth a denomination that only has value during a tournament. At the start of The HO-Down, every player will begin with $3500 worth of chips (4 greens, 10 blues, 6 reds, and 8 whites). If the add-on is purchased, 1 black chip will also be given. As the blinds raise higher, players will be "chipped up" to remove lower denomination colors. Chips are always rounded up. Here are the values of the colors:
White = $25
Red = $50
Red = $50
Blue = $100
Green = $500
Black = $1000
FORMAT AND BLINDS: Player seats will be chosen at random. The starting position of the dealer button will begin at Position 3 at each table. Blinds will start at 25/50 and raise every fifteen minutes. Here is the blind schedule:

50/100 - Omaha

No
rakes/cuts are ever taken on the league's behalf. Players are never
charged an additional fee outside of the normal buy-in. Tournaments are
privately held. All players begin events with equal odds of winning.
Players are prohibited from making "deals" during a tournament. The tournament must be played until a single player has been deemed the winner.
Players must follow all etiquette, including never showing another
player their hand or performing any other actions viewed as cheating. No
more than forty players will be registered for The Limit HO-Down.
No string betting. Cards speak for themselves. Substitutes are not
permitted at any time. Only CPL chips will be used during the
tournament. Rebuys, wilds, bounties, special points, and/or antes are
not a part of the event. All money submitted to The HO-Down is
non-refundable. Points
are not a part of the tournament (CPL point totals are not affected
whatsoever). Directors reserve the right to alter the colors and
denominations of chips used during the event. Venue host earns twenty dollars toward their buy-in. If the dealer mistakenly
reveals a burn card or a player’s hold card prior to the flop, a misdeal
will be declared. If the dealer mistakenly reveals a burn card after
the flop, all players shall be allowed to see the revealed card and the
hand will continue. Payouts occur as soon as the tournament ends. The $5 add-on can only be purchased before the tournament begins. Only one add-on per player. If a player deliberately or excessively
violates CPL policy, that player may be expelled from the tournament
without refund.
All rule disputes will be resolved solely by a CPL Director (Robbie Cummings or Russell Pullen).
